Building a better legal framework for animals

NEW LAUNCH

In the UK, an estimated ten million pigs are slaughtered each year, our data reveals up to 85% have their tails docked. Tail docking is extremely painful for pigs, it can also only be carried out as a last resort.

Our new programme will explore this systemic illegality and bring legal actions to address the issue.

Advocating for Animals.

The Animal Law Foundation is a collective of lawyers and those interested in animal protection, with the aim of ensuring a robust legal framework for animals.

The Animal Law Foundation will undertake legal research, provide information and education on animal law and where necessary bring legal challenges to ensure that animal law is being interpreted and applied as intended.

“It is our goal to make sure that the laws that are fought so hard for by members of the public, NGOs and members of Parliament are applied in practice. So often we see the illusion of an issue being dealt with because a law is passed; however, can a law even be called a law if that law is not being enforced? The Animal Law Foundation will work to make sure that the legal protections afforded to animals are more than just a piece of paper.”
